Encounters Between Estonian and German Art from Lucas Cranach to Arvo P\u00e4rt and Gerhard Richter\u201d will open. The exhibition is a joint project between the Art Museum of Estonia and the Dresden State Art Collections. After being displayed in Germany during the summer, it now arrives in Tallinn. It is also the largest joint exhibition of Estonian art ever held in Germany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">At the core of the exhibition is a dialogue connecting <b>Gerhard Richter<\/b> and <b>Arvo P\u00e4rt<\/b>. Both artists have experienced life under socialist regimes, and explored post-war trauma, freedom, and spirituality in their work. For the first time, alongside Richter\u2019s paintings, P\u00e4rt\u2019s manuscripts and music journals will also be on display.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The exhibition highlights centuries of artistic connections between Estonia and Germany. Presented side by side are works by, among others, <b>Konrad M\u00e4gi<\/b> and <b>Max Pechstein<\/b>, <b>Eduard Wiiralt<\/b> and <b>Otto Dix<\/b>, as well as <b>\u00dclo Sooster<\/b>, <b>Aili Vint<\/b>, and <b>Joseph Beuys<\/b>. The exhibition\u2019s curators are <b>Kadi Polli<\/b>, <b>Marion Ackermann<\/b>, and <b>Sergey Fofanov<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">According to Polli, the exhibition is built around twelve artistic \u201cencounters\u201d that take visitors on a journey from the 13th century to the present day\u2014from Baltic\u2013German nobility and the Tsarist era to Soviet Estonia and socialist Germany. Contemporary art is also included: <b>Kristina Norman<\/b> explores Hanseatic heritage, while <b>Jaanus Samma<\/b> examines Estonian and German stereotypes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">In Kumu\u2019s atrium, the work \u201cHora lupi\u2014The Time of the Wolf\u201d by <b>Edith Karlson<\/b>, created for the Venice Biennale, will be shown in Estonia for the first time. There will also be a family activity area and screenings of Soviet-era animations featuring P\u00e4rt\u2019s music.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Curator-led tours will take place on Saturday, 25 November, at 13:00 in Estonian, and 14:00 in English.
