The theme of this year\u2019s festival is \u201cZwei Gef\u00fchle\u201d, which is inspired by <b>Helmut Lachenmann<\/b>\u2019s work of the same name. The festival itself will be a celebration of Lachenmann\u2019s and <b>Arvo P\u00e4rt<\/b>\u2019s 90th birthdays, both of whom are living legends. AFEKT is a festival that honours the works of contemporary composers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">AFEKT will also perform music by <b>Luciano Berio<\/b> and <b>Pierre Boulez<\/b>, in honour of their 100th birthdays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">AFEKT\u2019s November events in Tallinn and Tartu will consist of ten concerts divided by these two main cities, first Tallinn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">24 October\u2014Estonia Concert Hall;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">25 October\u2014two concerts in the Tallinn Writers House, Black Ceiling Hall;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">26 October\u2014two concerts, one in the EMTA Chamber Hall, and one in the EMTA \u201cblack box\u201d;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">28 October\u2014Tallinn Writers House, Black Ceiling Hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The Tartu concerts are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">26 October\u2014Aparaaditehas, Biblioteek;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">27 October\u2014two concerts in Aparaaditehas, Biblioteek;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">28 October\u2014University of Tartu Assembly Hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The concerts of AFEKT will of course also include works by other composers, both Estonian and international. Music will be performed by various ensembles and soloists, including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, several world premieres by several composers will also take place. In a nutshell, if you are a fan of contemporary and classical music, this is an excellent chance to witness some great performances of modern music history, as well as witness history in the making.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">There will be followup concerts in Tapa on 25 November, and in Tallinn on 5 December.
