The Cult is one of rock\u2019s legendary bands. Formed in 1983 in Bradford, England, The Cult reached commercial success only two years later with the release of their second studio album, \u201cDreamtime\u201d, which produced the megahit \u201cShe Sells Sanctuary\u201d. They later achieved success after breaking into the mainstream American music scene before the end of the 1980s.<\/p>\n
Ian Astbury<\/b> on vocals and Billy Duffy<\/b> on guitar are the band\u2019s core songwriters, as well as original members. The band have been known as a post-punk band, as well as gothic, but they are more known as a rock band in the US. By some accounts they are even hard rock or heavy metal, but some accounts may also not have ever listened to The Cult.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder the Midnight Sun\u201d, the band\u2019s eleventh<\/i> studio album, was released in 2022. A fun fact is that the title of the album is said to have come from lead singer Astbury\u2019s experience at the 1986 Provinssrock festival in Finland. \u201cIt\u2019s three in the morning, the sun\u2019s up, and there\u2019s all these beautiful people in this halcyon moment. People are laying on the grass, making out, drinking, smoking. It was an incredible moment. When the world stopped [for the pandemic], I had this moment to write in real time, to calculate. I was compelled by this vision, this anomaly, this memory, of being under the midnight sun.”<\/span><\/p>\n The Cult promise to play their greatest hits from throughout their more than four decades of music, as well as music from the aforementioned album. Astbury and Duffy will be joined by John Tempesta<\/b> of White Zombie, Grant Fitzpatrick<\/b>, and Damon Fox<\/b> of Bigelf.<\/p>\n
