On Saturday, 7 June, Kumu\u2019s lovely courtyard will be filled with creatives with a strong connection to Iceland, as well as creatives from the tiny island nation itself. Workshops, exhibitions, live music, and food featuring Iceland and the Nordics in general will be available to visitors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This year\u2019s Kumu Courtyard Festival is in connection with one of the art museum\u2019s newer exhibitions, which opened in mid-May. <b>Ragnar Kjartansson<\/b>, an Icelandic video artist and painter, presents his solo exhibition, \u201c<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kunstimuuseum.ekm.ee\/en\/syndmus\/ragnar-kjartansson-a-boy-and-a-girl-and-a-bush-and-a-bird\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">A Boy and a Girl and a Bush and a Bird<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u201d. He is considered one of the \u201cmost fascinating and idiosyncratic artists in the contemporary international art scene\u201d, according to Kumu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This is a family-friendly event starting at noon. A ticket is required for entrance to the Kumu museum itself, but the day\u2019s programme for \u201cIcelandic Currents\u201d is free. Various events in the programme do require an extra fee however, for example a workshop on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kumu.ekm.ee\/en\/syndmus\/workshop-spring-plants-to-nordic-kombucha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">how to make kombucha<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and a workshop on the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kunstimuuseum.ekm.ee\/en\/syndmus\/workshop-fine-fish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">finest fish of Saaremaa<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">From noon until 16:00, visitors to the courtyard event can enjoy live Icelandic music. After that, there will be a DJ, and two other bands giving performances. Simultaneously, there will be a treasure hunt for children, a guided tour of Kjartansson\u2019s solo exhibition, a performative installation titled \u201cEruption\u201d\u2014this is an Icelandic theme, so you probably know what to expect\u2014and much more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The event officially ends at 21:00, and you can read the full programme <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/kumu.ekm.ee\/en\/syndmus\/kumu-courtyard-festival-icelandic-currents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">here<\/span><\/a><\/span>.
