Sooster was a prominent representative of post-war modernism and surrealism, whose work extended from early Hiiumaa paintings to unfinished compositions in the last years of his life. Sooster&#8217;s life and artistic direction were interrupted by seven years in a prison camp in Kazakhstan, after which he only briefly returned to Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">25 Oct 2024\u201316 Mar 2025<a href=\"https:\/\/kunstimuuseum.ekm.ee\/en\/syndmus\/kaja-karner-friendship-and-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <b>Kaja K\u00e4rner: Friendship and Time<\/b><\/a>, Tallinn<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The <i>Kaja K\u00e4rner: Friendship and Time<\/i> exhibition will be open for the next two weeks at the Adamson-Eric Museum in Tallinn. Artist Kaja K\u00e4rner&#8217;s works deal a lot with Tartu\u2019s urban environment, and people. She has also painted many works of her famous group of friends, some of which are now on display in the art museum. K\u00e4rner&#8217;s paintings vividly capture the uniqueness of a moment, and they often contain subtle irony, not to mention multiple levels of interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">1 Nov 2024\u201331 Dec 2025<b><a href=\"https:\/\/muuseum.ut.ee\/en\/content\/exhibition-invisible-city-800-years-city-tartu-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Invisible City Exhibition<\/a>, <\/b>Tartu<br><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The<i> Invisible City: 800 Years of the City of Tartu<\/i> exhibition delves into Tartu&#8217;s medieval past, presenting the city&#8217;s origins as well as the lives of its early inhabitants. The University of Tartu Museum\u2019s exhibition features models of the city, including the first ever virtual reconstruction of 13th century Tartu. The exhibition offers perspectives on the city&#8217;s natural history and urban development. Visitors will also be able to see archaeological finds, and an exact copy of the oldest surviving city model, from 1686.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">2 Feb\u201317 Apr <a href=\"https:\/\/opera.ee\/en\/staging\/kammermuusika-rahvusooperis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Estonian National Opera Chamber Concerts<\/strong><\/a>, Tallinn<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The Estonian National Opera&#8217;s chamber concerts offer an intimate musical experience, featuring works both by international and Estonian composers. The chamber concert series begins with a sold-out performance on 22 February, featuring Estonian music. Other concerts will feature romantic French pieces by Faur\u00e9 on 20 March, as well as works by Debussy, Poulenc, Mozart, Mendelssohn and many other renowned European composers. Virtual reality has become a part of many areas of life, and now you can also experience it over dinner, thanks to the PROTO Invention Factory. PROTO\u2019s VR dinners take diners on a journey where a traditional dinner is combined with the limitless possibilities offered by virtual reality. Tartu will display rare orchid species from Ecuador, several of which should bloom during the exhibition. Tallinn will display over 500 varieties. Orchids can be purchased from both events on site. This year\u2019s festival will be the 43rd since the first <i>Tudengijazz<\/i> festival was held illegally in 1982, when performers defied the Soviet authorities, who had banned the public performance of jazz. The event has seen many talented European and Estonian musicians. This year, the opening concert will be held at Philly Joe\u2019s jazz club in Tartu. You could say this helped the whole complex to bounce back today as a home to creative businesses, design shops, galleries, a theatre, caf\u00e9s, and restaurants. On Saturday, 8 March, the traditional spring market will be held, where local artists, designers and craftsmen sell their various goods and crafts. Music, entertainment, and food trucks will also be there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s1\">8 Mar <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marathon100.com\/uudised\/vaata\/love-run-2025-kaivitab-kevade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Love Run 2025<\/a>,<\/b> Tallinn<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Sometimes you just have to run for love. This time you can do it with friends while celebrating Women&#8217;s Day in a sporty way. The basic distance is five kilometers, but more passionate runners can also run the half marathon and marathon, at 21 and 42 kilometers, respectively. The band&#8217;s music is not exactly traditional folk music, but more like very original contemporary folk. Puuluup represented Estonia with 5MIINUST in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
