Retail trade enterprises in Estonia saw a decline last year, with total turnover reaching 10.4 billion euros\u2014down 3 per cent compared to 2023, according to preliminary data from Statistics Estonia.<\/p>\n
The biggest drop was in stores selling manufactured goods, where turnover fell by 4 per cent, while grocery stores saw a 3 per cent decline. However, enterprises selling automotive fuel recorded a 2 per cent increase.<\/p>\n
Despite the overall decline, retail trade rebounded in December. \u201cThe turnover of retail trade enterprises was \u20ac1 billion in December 2024, and compared with the same month in 2023, turnover volume was up by 1 per cent,\u201d said Statistics Estonia analyst, Johanna Linda Pihlak<\/b>.<\/p>\n
The strongest growth was in specialised stores selling computers, books, and sports equipment, where turnover surged by 33 per cent. Second-hand and non-store retail sales increased by 19 per cent, while online sales grew by 6 per cent.<\/p>\n
However, fuel retailers and grocery stores saw a 4 per cent decline in December. Compared to November, total turnover rose by 13 per cent, largely driven by holiday shopping.<\/p>\n
