The \u00dclemiste Shopping Centre in Tallinn has unveiled a new exhibition titled \u201cOtter \u2013 the Water Wolf,\u201d which focuses solely on the Eurasian otter, Estonia\u2019s \u201cAnimal of the Year\u201d. Located on the second floor near the main entrance, the exhibition features 40 photographs by leading nature photographers, that provide an intimate view of this elusive aquatic species. The exhibit explores the daily life, diet, and habitats of the otter, a protected and rarely spotted animal in Estonia.<\/p>\n
According to curator Tarmo Mikussaar<\/b>, the otter\u2019s secretive nature makes it challenging to observe in the wild, making the exhibition a unique way to introduce the public to this creature.<\/p>\n
Tiia N\u00f5mm<\/b>, Head of Marketing and Corporate Responsibility at \u00dclemiste Shopping Centre, noted that the exhibition’s primary goal is to encourage an appreciation of the natural environment and encourage a closer connection to nature. “The exhibition is full of fascinating scientific facts about the otter, allowing everyone to learn more about this delightful animal. Most importantly, we want visitors to understand that the survival of the ‘water wolf’ is largely in our hands,” N\u00f5mm emphasized.<\/p>\n
Otter expert and photographer Remek Meel<\/strong> noted that while the otter population is stable, the species still relies on a clean and healthy aquatic ecosystem to thrive.
