The Tartu Love Film Festival \u201cTartuff\u201d begins today (August 5) and will run until August 10. The festival is set to attract thousands of visitors with a diverse lineup of films. In total, 12 films will be shown at the free open-air cinema in the city\u2019s town hall square, with a mix of contemporary hits, compelling documentaries, and family-friendly options.<\/p>\n
Opening the festival today (August 5) is “Arcadia,” directed by Yorgos Zoisi. The film explores the eerie aftermath of a woman’s death in a car accident. Tomorrow evening, “Portrait Of A Certain Orient” by Brazilian director Marcelo Gomes transports viewers to the Amazon with a melodramatic love triangle set against a backdrop of religious and cultural tensions.<\/p>\n
On August 7, Zo\u00eb Eisenberg\u2019s “Chaperone” delves into the complexities of relationships with an authentic portrayal of a 28-year-old woman and a 19-year-old boy navigating an unusual romance. Later that night, “The Shameless,” directed by Konstantin Bojanov, presents a stark portrayal of societal norms in India, through the story of a rebellious Hindu woman.<\/p>\n
On August 8 Veit Helmer\u2019s “Gondola,” an unconventional love story set on a ropeway in the Georgian mountains, told entirely without dialogue will be screened. That same evening, Aslihan’s “Afloat” offers a tense family drama on a sailboat, where old wounds resurface during a seemingly peaceful holiday.<\/p>\n
The festival will also feature “The Animal” by Sofia Exarchou on August 10, a Greek drama about a man who sacrifices everything in the name of entertainment \u2013 which won seven Greek Film Academy Awards.<\/p>\n
For classic film enthusiasts, the festival will present an extended version of Sergio Leone\u2019s “Once Upon a Time in America” on August 9. Offering a rare opportunity to experience this 4-hour, 11-minute masterpiece on the big screen<\/p>\n
