This Sunday, July 28, Kassitoome Valley in Tartu will host the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra\u2019s annual summer concert for the 14th consecutive year. This event is part of Tartu’s celebrations as the European Capital of Culture in 2024 and promises a diverse musical programme and notable performances.<\/p>\n
The concert will feature a large number of soloists, more than ever before. Risto Joost<\/b>, the musical director and conductor of the summer concert, highlighted the uniqueness of this year\u2019s event by comparing it to the famous three tenors’ concerts. The concert will include performances by Annely Peebo<\/b>, Monika-Evelin Liiv<\/b>, Sandra Laagus<\/b>, Karmen Puis<\/b>, Rasmus Kull<\/b>, Simo Breede<\/b>, Aksel V\u00fcrst<\/b> (clarinet), Minna Emilia V\u00fcrst<\/b> (flute), and Marta Mutso<\/b> (violin).<\/p>\n
Sandra Laagus recently won the Young Musician Award and will join the Berlin State Opera. Monika-Evelin Liiv is the first Estonian soloist to perform at the Royal Opera House in London, with notable partners such as Anna Netrebko<\/b>, Jonas Kaufmann<\/b>, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky<\/b>. Annely Peebo is an internationally recognised Estonian opera soloist who received the title of Kammers\u00e4nger in 2022.<\/p>\n
The concert will also highlight talented young musicians, featuring siblings Minna Emilia V\u00fcrst (flute) and Aksel V\u00fcrst (clarinet). The 17-year-old Kasper Joel N\u00f5gene<\/b>, a promising conductor, will also be conducting alongside experienced conductors.<\/p>\n
Conductors for the event will include Risto Joost, Endel N\u00f5gene<\/b>, and Kasper Joel N\u00f5gene. The programme will feature works by Eino Tamberg<\/b>, Gioachino Rossini<\/b>, Pietro Mascagni<\/b>, William Gomez<\/b>, Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/b>, Edward Elgar<\/b>, T\u00f5nis Kaumann<\/b>, Giuseppe Verdi<\/b>, Richard Strauss<\/b>, Eduard Tubin<\/b>, Imre K\u00e1lm\u00e1n<\/b>, Georges Bizet<\/b>, and Raimond Valgre<\/b>.<\/p>\n
