The Corsican vocal ensemble Spartimu have arrived for a series of concerts in Estonia. The six-member singing group will perform the island’s traditional spiritual and secular songs in J\u00f5hvi, P\u00e4rnu, Tartu, and Tallinn.<\/p>\n

The singing tradition of Corsican men goes back to the distant past. The island’s unique singing culture includes singing in a small circle. Singing close together and face-to-face connects different voices more seamlessly than is possible in conventional line singing. In addition, the arrangement facilitates a smooth change of lead singer. The singing experience is also more shared and expressive in circle singing than a usual choir.<\/p>\n

The ritual repetitions will create a meditative atmosphere in the concerts.
