Tallinn’s idyllic Christmas market will open this Friday, December 1. The Christmas wonderland, which has been voted as the best in Europe in recent years, is built around an impressive Christmas tree in the city\u2019s town hall square. The Christmas market will be open until January 7.<\/p>\n
Surrounded by the medieval setting of Tallinn\u2019s town hall square, the Christmas market’s atmosphere is unique, and with the snow already \u2013 very festive.<\/p>\n
From the around 60 stalls, you can buy soft and warm clothing items, Christmas gifts, handicrafts, and delicious Estonian food to eat on the spot or take home. There will also be a number of hot Gl\u00f6ggi (mulled wine) stands, to help keep you warm.<\/p>\n
The Christmas market, which was voted the best in Europe in 2019, is also well known for its rich cultural programme, which The Times newspaper describes as the \u201cbest for musical groups and dance troupes\u201d.<\/p>\n
For children, a playground has been built on the side of the market, where you can find, for example, a carousel. However, the biggest draw for little visitors is Santa himself. Who will be in his own little grotto. Should he be busy tending to the reindeer or helping his elves, little ones can also put their lists into his postbox.<\/p>\n

Did you know that the first Christmas tree in any town hall square in all of Europe was in Tallinn? This happened all the way back in the year 1441. The rich Hanseatic city knew how to enjoy Christmas in a spectacular way already in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n
The Christmas market, which is free to enter, will be open from 10 am to 8 pm daily from December 1 to January 7.<\/p>\n
