From today, October 21, until November 5, Tallinn Botanical Garden will host a pumpkin festival, where interesting varieties of pumpkins will be presented. There will be excursions and master classes in both Estonian and Russian, and on weekends, the Palm House caf\u00e9 will offer pumpkin dishes. Prizes will also be awarded to those who share a pumpkin recipe or who come in a pumpkin-inspired costume.<\/p>\n
\u201cPumpkin is a vegetable that is equally good in soups, salads, jams, savory pies and sweet cakes. Its seeds are edible, and the most skilled even ferment wine from the pulp. Because of these excellent properties, pumpkin deserves more attention, and that is why late autumn at the Tallinn Botanical Garden is dedicated to the pumpkin,\u201d said Eliko Petser<\/strong>, Tallinn Botanical Garden\u2019s methodologist and curator of the Pumpkin Festival.<\/p>\n On October 22, 28 and 29 from 1 to 2 pm there will be a \u201cGardening Lesson\u201d led by Ave Visnapuu<\/strong>, head gardener at the Tallinn Botanical Garden, who grew the exhibition\u2019s pumpkins. On October 21 and November 4 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm there will be a tour in Russian led by Maria Strukova<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Master classes on pumpkin making for children and adults will be held on October 21, 22, 28, 29, as well as November 4 and 5 from 12 noon till 3 pm, under the direction of Pille Hermann<\/strong>. There will also be face painting for children every Sunday from 1 to 3 pm.<\/p>\n To make the Pumpkin Festival more joyful and memorable, festivalgoers are encouraged to come dressed in a pumpkin-inspired costume. Every week, one family ticket, one annual subscription and Tallinn Botanical Garden souvenirs will be raffled off among everyone who comes in costume. To participate in the competition, you need to publish a photo of yourself in a costume in your Instagram or Facebook story, tagging the Tallinn Botanical Garden account @botaanikaaed or sending the photo to aed@botaanikaaed.ee.<\/p>\n As part of the festival, the Tallinn Botanical Garden also invites culinary enthusiasts to share their favourite pumpkin recipe. Take a photo of your pumpkin dish and send it along with the recipe to aed@botaanikaaed.ee<\/span><\/a>. An annual subscription to the Tallinn Botanical Garden will be raffled off among everyone who posts a recipe on Facebook.<\/p>\n Entry to the pumpkin festival is possible with a regular ticket to Tallinn Botanical Garden, which is open every day from 11 am to 4 pm.<\/p>\n
