Today (February 27), voting has begun for the 2023 Riigikogu elections. As of 9 am, it is now possible to vote online. Select polling stations will also be open from noon today. From Friday until the election day on Sunday, March 4, all 405 polling stations around the country will be open.<\/p>\n

Election week for the 2023 Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament) elections kicked off at 9 am this morning with the opening of online voting.<\/p>\n

Estonia\u2019s e-voting system enables voters to cast their vote online by downloading the voter application<\/span><\/a> and logging in using their ID card or mobile ID. Voters have the possibility to recast their vote at any time before voting closes at 8 pm on Saturday, March 4, should they change their mind. It is also possible to override an online vote by casting a paper ballot on Sunday, March 5.<\/p>\n

From 12 noon today, it will also be possible for eligible voters to vote in person at a select number of polling stations at local government buildings around Estonia, as well as at district government buildings in Tallinn. Voting will be open from 12 noon until 8 pm each day until Thursday, March 2.<\/p>\n

From Friday, March 3 until Election Day on Sunday, March 5, all 405 polling stations around Estonia will be open.<\/p>\n

In total, 968 candidates from nine political parties are competing for 101 seats in Estonia\u2019s Riigikogu parliament. Estonian parliamentary elections take place every 5 years.<\/p>\n

In order to vote in Estonia\u2019s parliamentary elections you must be a citizen of the Republic of Estonia. This is unlike some countries where permanent residents of other nationalities have a right to vote in parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n
