{"id":115726,"date":"2023-02-07T15:42:39","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T13:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/balticguide.ee\/?p=115726"},"modified":"2023-02-07T16:02:48","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T14:02:48","slug":"the-new-finnish-film-sisu-will-be-screened-at-haapsalus-hoff-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/balticguide.ee\/en\/the-new-finnish-film-sisu-will-be-screened-at-haapsalus-hoff-film-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"The new Finnish film \u201cSisu\u201d will be screened at Haapsalu&#8217;s H\u00d5FF film festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Haapsalu&#8217;s horror and fantasy film festival H\u00d5FF, which is the biggest genre film festival in the Baltics, has announced it will screen two award-winning films: <strong>Jalmari Helander&#8217;s<\/strong> \u201cSisu\u201d and <strong>Kim Hong-Sun&#8217;s<\/strong> \u201cOperation Wolf Hunt\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The principle behind H\u00d5FF is to present a selection of fresh horror and fantasy films, cult classics and world film treasures to Estonia audiences. I skipped school and watched the Rambo movie with my friends while my parents were at work. That movie changed my life,&#8221; says Helander.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sisu is not just a tribute to Rambo. The main character played by <strong>Jorma Tommila<\/strong> also has characteristics of the famous Finnish sniper <strong>Simo H\u00e4yh\u00e4<\/strong>, who killed more than 500 Russians during the winter war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The other film announced today was South Korean director Kim Hong-sun&#8217;s \u201cOperation Wolf Hunt\u201d, which also premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won two awards at the Sitges Fantasy Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;If you&#8217;re looking for the wildest and most anarchist riot film this year, which will thrill even the most hardened horror movie fan, we have nothing better to offer,&#8221; says Helmut J\u00e4nes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This year, H\u00d5FF will takes place at Haapsalu Cultural Centre from April 28 to 30. Festival passes are currently on sale for a discounted price of 55 euros.
