This year, the festival which will run until November 27, will showcase over 250 movies, shorts and documentaries from around the world over a variety of film programmes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, which is in its 26th edition this year, opened yesterday. The selection of films on offer included the Estonian premiere of <strong>Sam Mendes<\/strong>&#8216; Empire of Light, starring Oscar winner <strong>Olivia Colman<\/strong> and <strong>Brend Fraser\u2019s<\/strong> powerful performance in The Whale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As in previous years, the Official Selection, First Feature, Baltic Competition and Rebels with a Cause programmes will all return, along with a selection of programmes for children, shorts and documentaries. This year will also see the introduction of a new program &#8211; Critics\u2019 Picks, which will showcase 16 films handpicked by the festival\u2019s programme team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Festival Director <strong>Tiina Lokk<\/strong> commented that, \u201cThe Critics\u2019 Picks competition programme solves a challenge our programme team has seen for many years: brilliant arthouse films that are unfortunately often lost in the mix of our fast-growing lineup and large-scale international festivals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The full programme of films, along with the possibility to buy tickets and passes can be found on the festival\u2019s official website <a href=\"https:\/\/poff.ee\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">here<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At the same time that P\u00d6FF is running in Tallinn, the sub-festival KINOFF will be taking place in Ida-Virumaa, bringing various films as well as events to Kohtla-J\u00e4rve, J\u00f5hvi, and Narva.
