According to Statistics Estonia, in September, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 886 million euros. When compared with September 2021, turnover decreased by 6% at constant prices.<\/p>\n
For Johanna Linda Pihlak<\/b>, an analyst at Statistics Estonia, the decrease in retail trade turnover in September was influenced the most by stores selling manufactured goods, where turnover fell by 11%. \u201cTurnover decreased in most sectors, except for stores selling second-hand goods and non-store retail sale (stalls, markets, and direct sale), where turnover was up by 1% compared with September 2021,” Pihlak added.<\/p>\n
Among stores selling manufactured goods, the biggest drop in turnover (by 22%) was recorded in stores selling via mail order or on the internet. Turnover decreased by 14% in stores selling household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials, by 12% in stores selling textiles, clothing, and footwear, by 10% in other non-specialised stores selling predominantly manufactured goods (i.e. department stores), by 7% in other specialised stores selling predominantly computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games, toys, etc., and by 4% in pharmacies and stores selling cosmetics.<\/p>\n
The turnover of grocery stores was down by 4% compared with September last year. However, the turnover of enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel increased by 10%.<\/p>\n
Compared with August, the turnover of retail trade enterprises fell by 6% in September. According to the seasonally and working-day adjusted data, the decrease was 1%.<\/p>\n
In the first nine months of 2022, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 4% compared with the same period in 2021.<\/p>\n
