On September 24, The 5th concert season of the Arvo P\u00e4rt Centre will be opened with a concert by renowned Dutch trombonist J\u00f6rgen van Rijen<\/strong> together with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and conductor T\u00f5nu Kaljuste<\/strong>. Trombone arrangements of several works by Arvo P\u00e4rt<\/strong>, which require exceptional craftsmanship, will be presented to the audience.<\/p>\n The 5th concert season of the Arvo P\u00e4rt Centre will be opened on September 24 at 5 pm with a concert by renowned Dutch trombonist J\u00f6rgen van Rijen. The solo trombonist of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform together with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and conductor T\u00f5nu Kaljuste.<\/p>\n Van Rijen is dedicated to the goal of bringing more attention to his instrument. He is considered a true ambassador of his instrument. At the concert, he will present to the audience the seemingly impossible trombone arrangements of several works by Arvo P\u00e4rt in a program in which P\u00e4rt’s music is intertwined with the works of J.S. Bach.<\/p>\n J\u00f6rgen van Rijen’s first encounter with Arvo P\u00e4rt’s music dates back decades, when he happened to hear the piece “Cantus in memory of Benjamin Britten”. According to the musician, the beauty, purity and mystical and spiritual atmosphere of the piece struck him immediately.<\/p>\n “I am extremely happy that I have had the honourable opportunity to work with Arvo P\u00e4rt on trombone versions of some of his works. It is a special feeling to come to Laulasmaa again to perform these works for the first time in Estonia. I am really looking forward to it,” said van Rijen.<\/p>\n
