Residents of Tallinn have until Sunday, June 12, to apply for subsidies to help with the cost of energy bills between September 2021 and April 2022. Since the introduction of the scheme on January 17, the Tallinn Social Welfare and Health Care Department has received over 36,000 applications.<\/span><\/p>\n “Against the backdrop of increasing energy prices, the energy subsidy is a great help for many families. As of May 30, more than 28,800 people or families in Tallinn have been granted energy subsidies. A total of \u20ac4,051,000 has been paid out, at an average of \u20ac129.5 per application. There are currently 1,242 applications being processed, and we expect to receive subsidy claims right up until the last day,” explained deputy mayor Betina Be\u0161kina<\/strong> to ERR.<\/span><\/p>\n The main reason for applications being rejected, according to Be\u0161kina, is the applicant\u2019s income being above the allowed threshold. She also added that subsidy payments under 10 euros in total would not be paid out. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To qualify and be eligible for the energy subsidy, the average income of an individual or family must not exceed \u20ac1,126 for the first or only member of the family, \u20ac563 for each person aged 14 or over, and \u20ac338 for each person under 14.<\/span><\/p>\n Up until June 1, there was a helpline to call for assistance and information regarding the energy subsidy scheme. However, this has now been closed. If you would like to apply, it is now recommended to turn to your district council for assistance. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
