{"id":100401,"date":"2022-01-04T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/balticguide.ee\/?p=100401"},"modified":"2022-01-03T15:18:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T13:18:24","slug":"50-price-rise-on-saaremaa-and-hiiumaa-ferry-tickets-postponed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/balticguide.ee\/en\/50-price-rise-on-saaremaa-and-hiiumaa-ferry-tickets-postponed\/","title":{"rendered":"50% price rise on Saaremaa and Hiiumaa ferry tickets postponed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Back on <a href=\"https:\/\/balticguide.ee\/en\/ferry-tickets-to-hiiumaa-and-saaremaa-to-rise-by-around-50-in-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">27 December<\/span><\/span><\/a>, the<b> <\/b>Ministry of Economic Affairs announced a price rise of around 50 per cent on both vehicle and passenger tickets for tourists on the Saaremaa and Hiiumaa ferry routes. With this price increase to come into effect on 1 February 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">However, after meetings with the mayors of Hiimuaa, Muhu and Saaremaa, the <span class=\"s3\">Minister of Economic Affairs, Taavi Aas,<\/span> agreed to postpone this price increase. Giving the mayors time to fully review the plans and to present proposals of their own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\">According to Aas, <span class=\"s3\">&#8220;<i>at the beginning of the new year, we will renegotiate, including when the price increase will take effect<\/i>.&#8221;&nbsp;Going on to reiterate, &#8220;the <i>fare increase is inevitable due to rising energy prices and plans to add more departures, among other costs.<\/i>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s3\">These proposed price increases will see <\/span>the current prices of 8.40 euros for a car and 3 euros for passengers on the Saaremaa route rise to 12 euros and 4.30&nbsp;euros accordingly.
