The Teflons Brothers love EstoniaThe Teflon Brothers often visit Estonia in the summer. The video was shot in Tallinn, Pärnu and Tartu. They hope that cooperation will now expand and the number of gigs will increase.

The Finnish Teflon Brothers single “Eesti ft. Märkä-Simo” has broken records on Youtube and Spotify. The new version of the song “Eesti (On My Mind)”, originally released by Juice Leskinen in 1983 became the most viewed music video on YouTube in Finland in June. The song has already been listened to hundreds of thousands of times, and the summer hit has also reached the radio charts.

The Teflon Brothers, formed in 2006, are known for their numerous mega hits. The group consists of rap artists Pyhimys, Heikki Kuula and Voli. The hits “Maradona”, “Pämpää” and “Hubba Bubba” have been streamed well over 250 million times. This summer, Teflon Brothers will play at least 42 gigs.

Estonia is charming

At the press conference held at the beginning of the summer, the band said that from now on they are an Estonian band, i.e. “Eesti band”.

“Things just somehow fell into place,” Heikki Kuula stated.

“We had seven sold-out support concerts in the spring, so we spent a good week re-acquainting with the city of Tallinn, which has opened up from the corona lockdown. In the spring, a video was filmed, and a kind of documentary was also made, the name of which changed to “matkailumokumentti “ (travel documentary in English), recalls Kuula.

In addition to Tallinn, the video was shot in Pärnu and Tartu. The video also includes hockey star Märkä-Simon aka Siim Liivik, Sakari Kuosmanen and the Collegium Musicale choir.

“We are turning a completely new page in our career. During the current year, we have spent a lot of time in Estonia, especially in Tallinn. The whole band has fallen deeply in love with the atmosphere of the country, so the new territorial conquest feels particularly good”, says Heikki Kuula.

The Teflon trio are Estonian e-citizens, and the intention is to later establish a company in Estonia as well. However, the band members do not intend to move to Estonia.

“Eesti ft. Märkä-Simo” is the first song released by a Finnish band with Estonian Universal Music.

“Estonia is dear (dear) to us. In the spring, we realized how narrow the image we Finns have of Estonia. The high quality of Estonian music has made a deep impression on us. Big hits are made in Estonia, the country has wonderful artists and an enthusiastic audience,” sums up Voli.

The video also features the frontman of the 5MIINUST band, Estoni Kohver, who is second from the left in the picture.

“We are not yet very well known in Estonia, except maybe in the Satumaa karaoke bar. Of course, we also look forward to cooperation with Estonian artists. In a way, it already started when Estoni Kohver, who is popular in Estonia, came along for the video,” says Voli.

“Eesti ft. Märkä-Simo” is becoming a permanent part of the band’s concert set, and it has already proven to be a guaranteed sing-along hit at festivals.
