Tallinn Fringe Festival will bring performing arts to the city

The eighth Tallinn Fringe Festival is set to invigorate the city’s with an array of short performances from August 18 to September 18. The month long festival will feature an eclectic mix of acts from both local and international performers, including burlesque, circus, comedy, music, dance, theatre, and numerous genre combinations.

The festival will also host prominent artists such as Kaytlin Bailey, Richard Dale, and Matt Davis, who will be arriving directly from the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest Fringe festival.

The Fringe street programme will once again bring acclaimed performers to Tallinn Town Hall. The line-up includes the Irish collective Tumble Circus, the duo Bill and Fred, and the Irish clown Shiva Grigs, who will perform ‘The Pigeon Catcher’. The street performances are scheduled to run from 23 to 25 August.

“The Fringe phenomenon is characterised by its continuity, perseverance, and resilience. Over the past eight years, the Tallinn Fringe Festival has grown organically despite global crises, economic uncertainty, and criticism,” notes Fringe artist Kaisa Ling.

Unlike traditional festivals, the Tallinn Fringe Festival is a collaborative effort, organised by performers and venues rather than a single organiser. This approach allows for a diverse programme showcasing artists from various disciplines.

“I’m excited for this year’s festival, which will feature numerous premieres, beloved classics, and events we haven’t seen before,” shred Dan Renwick, the Fringe Festival Director.

The festival programme, which will be continuously updated, can be viewed at fringe.ee.

The Tallinn Fringe Festival is organised by Hoplaa MTÜ and Fringe Festival OÜ, with support from the City of Tallinn, the British Council, the Embassy of Ireland, and the Embassy of Australia.
