Warm up those cold nights with flavourful Asian food at Riis.

If you are craving some spicy food, it’s worth the short trip out to the neighbourhood of Kadriorg to Riis. Riis means rice in Estonian, no doubt named after the staple ingredient in many Asian cuisines.

The interior at Riis is simp- le yet stylish, with a long table running through the middle of the restaurant that can accom- modate small groups, or singles during their busy lunch period. Riis is very popular among locals for a quick workday lunch, so it’s recommended to visit either little before, or after the lunch rush, if you plan to go during the day.

The menu at Riis is long but not overwhelming. It’s a mix of Thai and Vietnamese cuisines, which includes many staple favourites. The veggie or chicken spring rolls are perfect as an appetiser. The crispy rolls are served with sweet chilli sauce for dipping. The tempura prawns were also tasty, if you are craving some more appetisers for sharing.

The main course was difficult to choose because there were just so many great options. In the end I decided to try the beef in red coconut curry sauce. While it was not that spicy to start, after finishing you could definitely feel the heat! If you visit at lunch, Riis offers daily lunch specials, consisting of an appetiser, main course, and dessert. And monthly discounts on certain dishes are available with their client card.
