Pärnu Music Festival starts today

The Pärnu Music Festival, which starts today, will this year celebrate maestro Neeme Järvi’s 85th birthday. The popular festival, which will run from July 13 to 22, is already taking place for the 12th time.

The program includes two final concerts performed by the Estonian Festival Orchestra conducted by Paavo Järvi. Every year, world-famous soloists have also surprised audiences on the Pärnu stage, and that will be the case this summer as well.

“There are more concerts planned for this summer’s festival week than ever before,” said Kristjan Hallik, CEO of the music festival.

An essential part of the Pärnu Music Festival is the Järvi Academy organised by Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Kristjan Järvi and other masters. The Järvi Academy organises master classes for young musicians and conductors.

You can also participate in the music event on the stage of Pärnu Concert Hall for the third summer through Pärnu Music Festival TV.

The Pärnu Music Festival is one of the most famous international classical music festivals in Estonia. The event combines the Järvi Academy (workshops for young musicians), a high-level concert program, and the Estonian Festival Orchestra under the direction of Paavo Järvi. The orchestra always performs once a year in front of a home audience in Pärnu, at the Pärnu Music Festival.

In addition to the festival’s main program, Pärnu Music Festival organises free concerts in the city. On July 13 at 12 noon, the Tallinn Police Orchestra’s big band will play in the garden of Ammende Villa under the direction of Siim Aimla, and on July 17 at 1 p.m., the Pärnu City Orchestra will perform in Rannapark, conducted by Kaspar Männ.
