02.11.24–02.03.25 Ryoji Ikeda’s Solo exhibition, ERM, Tartu

Japanese contemporary artist Ryoji Ikeda is known for blending science and music in his art. For his exhibition at the Estonian National Museum (ERM), the composer-artist has created two pieces: The Critical Path and Vox Aeterna. One installation incorporates genetic research findings as its material, while the other features the sound work of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

 

13.12.24–02.03.25 Recycling exhibition GIVE A NEW LIFE, The Museum of New Art, Pärnu

In its 12th year and with this year’s theme Roots, the exhibition showcases works by over 70 artists who transform objects thrown away and industrial scrap into art. Highlights include Christmas wreaths made from old books, jewellery from coffee grounds, and paintings on salvaged materials, all curated by Marie Virta.

 

19.12.24–16.02.25 Kaspar Tall’s personal exhibition, Viimsi Artium, Viimsi

This exhibition takes visitors on a journey through both the landscapes of the island of Saaremaa and the artist’s inner world. Through these surreal encounters, the exhibition invites viewers to explore the boundaries between reality and imagination.

 

09.01–08.02 Ardo Sägi´s solo exhibition “Messengers”, Gallery Pallas, Tartu

The exhibition explores the transformative power of messages, translating them into visual form through various artistic mediums. Each work stems from a specific message that has inspired the artist, evoking a range of emotions from positive to negative. Spanning two floors, this is Sägi’s largest solo exhibition to date, reflecting his long-standing career in graphic arts and his role as a lecturer.

 

10.01–23.05 Jazz Estonia concerts, Philly Joe’s, Tallinn

Philly Joe’s, Tallinn’s most popular jazz club, will once again be the venue for many top jazz performances. Both local and foreign jazz musicians will be performing.

 

26.01–03.05 Vanemuine Foyer Concerts, Vanemuine, Tartu

The Vanemuine Foyer concert series is a blend of classical, modern, and folk music across three performances. Featuring chamber works, iconic quartets, and vocal duos, the series highlights both 20th-century composers and traditional English songs.

 

03–07.02 HOGWARTS Magic Symphony, Tallinn, Jõhvi, Pärnu, Tartu

Hogwarts Magic Symphony is a concert program performed by the symphony orchestra Lords of the Sound, featuring music from the Harry Potter film saga. The orchestra will bring to life iconic compositions from the series, from the first journey on the Hogwarts Express to battles against dark forces.

 

04–09.02 DocPoint, Tallinn, Tartu

DocPoint Tallinn is a documentary film festival focused on socially relevant, critical, and topical documentaries. In collaboration with the Helsinki DocPoint festival, it brings a selection of films that explore a range of subjects, from personal stories to global issues. This year’s program includes four Estonian films that talk about local history and cultural celebrities, along with a variety of international documentaries offering new perspectives on current events and societal challenges.

 

04–09.02 Kyiv Grand Ballet “Swan Lake” Pärnu, Narva, Jõhvi, Tallinn, Tartu

The ballet, known for its themes of love, loyalty, and the battle between light and darkness, will feature Ana Sophia Scheller as Odette and Odile, and Viktor Tomashek as Prince Siegfried. The production will present the technical brilliance and artistry of the dancers, with stunning costumes and stage designs, offering a classical and beautiful interpretation of this legendary ballet.

 

05.02–07.03 Abstract Reality, Jakobi Galerii, Tartu

This exhibition explores how rapidly changing and unpredictable processes make reality harder to grasp, pushing it towards abstraction, while also searching for points of stability in an unstable world. Featuring works by Kostiantyn Tereshcheko, Serhii Serko, and Mariia Zahurska, the exhibition presents graphics, paintings, and ceramics that delve into the human need to find familiarity in chaos.
