02.11.24–02.03.25 Ryoji Ikeda’s Solo exhibition, ERM, Tartu

Japanese contemporary artist Ryoji Ikeda is known for his art that combines science and music. For the exhibition at the Estonian National Museum (ERM), the composer-artist has created two works, The Critical Path and Vox Aeterna. One installation uses the results of genetic research as material, while the other uses the sound work of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

 

23.11.24–29.05.25 Kinky Boots, Vanemuine Theatre, Tartu

The hit musical Kinky Boots tells a heart-warming and humorous story of friendship, individuality and bold fashion choices. The music and lyrics are by pop icon Cyndi Lauper. This six-time Tony Award-winning production is directed by Finnish director Samuel Harjanne.

 

13.12.24–02.03.25 Recycling exhibition GIVE A NEW LIFE, The Museum of New Art, Pärnu

Pärnu Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting the exhibition which focuses on the themes of recycling and sustainable development. The exhibition presents objects made from recycled materials.

 

10.01–23.05 Jazz Estonia concerts, Philly Joe’s, Tallinn

Jazz Estonia’s winter and spring concert calendar has been published. Tallinn’s oldest working jazz bar, Philly Joe’s Club, will once again host a small but atmospheric stage where you can hear and see jazz musicians from home and abroad.

 

14.01 West Side Story concert, Haapsalu Music School, Haapsalu

For 70 years, the Haapsalu Music School has presented the famous and beloved musical West Side Story, composed by composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein. The touching love story and catchy music have attracted audiences for more than 70 years.

 

14.01 Schönbrunn Palace’s Orchestra, Alexela Concert Hall, Tallinn

The Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra return to Estonia. The orchestra will perform Viennese classics by famous composers such as Johann Strauss. Previous concerts in Estonia have always been sold out and the orchestra has received standing ovations.

 

15–16.01 Concert show “Torm”, MUBA, Tallinn

Students from the Tallinn School of Music and Ballet will perform a piece that pays tribute to the great Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi. The performance will feature the composer’s music, which will also be interpreted through dance. The school’s chamber orchestra, guitar orchestra and ballet students will take the stage.

 

17.01–15.05 The Estonian National Male Choir concerts, Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn

Tickets are available for the Estonian National Male Choir’s winter and spring concerts. The choir was founded in 1944 and has been led by many of Estonia’s top musicians. The choir is currently led by the award-winning Mikk Üleoja, who has also studied singing in Finland.

 

18.01 Opening ceremony of the European Capital of Sport, Song Festival Grounds, Tallinn

The opening ceremony of Tallinn’s year as the European Capital of Sport will be headlined by 2006 Eurovision winner’s Lordi. Known for their theatrical performances, monstrous stage characters, and infectious heavy metal, Lordi will keep the atmosphere warm, even on a freezing January evening.

 

19–26.01 MustonenFest 2025, Tallinn, Tartu, Viljandi, Narva

MustonenFest offers a week of diverse programming from jazz to baroque. Concerts will take place all over Estonia, featuring local and foreign musicians. The festival is organised by the multi-talented musician Andres Mustonen, who himself will perform at many of the festival’s concerts.
