Skincare tips for summer
07. August 2014
Care about your skin, even while on vacation.
Sun, warmth, seawater, and wind are all part of summer, but at the same time, they dry the skin and bring out small wrinkles and pigmentations. Wrinkles and other imperfections become more visible in the summer sun. When the skin dries and tans, fine lines can appear more easily.
In the fall, the wrinkles between the eyebrows and around the eyes become more visible. It’s often thought that during summer it’s not important to take care of your skin because the sun takes away the need for treatments, or that you can’t go out into the sun after treatments anyway. Skin needs moisture and care, especially in summer.
Mesotherapy is a skincare procedure, developed in France, where small drops of vitamins and a hyaluronic acid solution are injected with a tiny needle into the top layer of the skin. The procedure is well suited for dry and tanned skin to moisturise, tighten and brighten.
With mesotherapy, a noticeable difference in skin quality can be seen after just one treatment. Besides, for long lasting effects it is often used as a weekly serial treatment for 3-4 weeks and it can be combined with several other treatments. At Dermamed, the treatment is not painful, there are no bruises and topical anaesthetics are not needed. You can be out in the sun the next day.
The moisturising and tightening mesotherapy can be tried at the Dermamed clinic in Tallinn’s city centre. The deep moisturising mesotherapy for the face costs €105.
French Cryolift Facial by Filorga
The French developed and favoured Cryolift facial stimulates, strengthens and brightens the skin immediately. The procedure moisturises and brightens the skin immediately and decreases swelling. A soothing massage can also be added to the facial. The Cryolift facial is among the few facial treatments that have, in addition to immediate results, a lasting result from 3-5 days. The serums are applied with a pleasant cooling applicator. The cooling improves the absorption of the serums and instantly removes signs of fatigue. The Cryolift facial procedure costs €50.
Filorga Glykopeel gentle peeling is one of the few chemical peels that can be done in the summer. Glykopeel brightens skin tone, diminishes imperfections and reduces the ageing effects of the sun’s rays on the skin and there is no downtime. The Glykopeel facial costs €75.
Botulin and Mesobotox
When forehead and eye wrinkles bother you, the most immediate solution is botulin toxin. The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes and the effect lasts for 3-6 months. Botulin toxin relaxes deep wrinkles too. Although its effect is not permanent, wrinkles remain softened. This effective procedure has been performed for decades and is safe in the hands of a trained medical specialist. The Botulinum injection is a medical procedure; so make sure you choose a top quality clinic. Botulin treatment for forehead and eye wrinkles at Dermamed costs €300.
If you wish to remove signs of fatigue from the skin quickly, skin dryness and wrinkles, it’s worth it to try Mesobotox. The procedure does not tackle wrinkles, but rather, rejuvenates and tightens the skin. Mesobotox care is also used to reduce the size of pores. Mesobotox for face at Dermamed will cost €230.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers are not acids but transparent gels that moisturise the skin, reduce and fill the wrinkles. The skin produces hyaluronic acid itself, but the amount declines as the body ages. Hyaluronic acid in the skin improves moisture levels and improves collagen production. There are different Hyaluronic acids. A thin gel is injected superficially into the skin to moisturize and fill the fine lines. Long lasting thicker gels are used for deeper wrinkles and medical nonsurgical face-lifts. As the volume of the upper lip decreases with ageing, a hyaluronic injection is a good option to soften and restore the upper lip to be able to enjoy wearing lipstick again. With injection procedures, sometimes bruises can appear. At Dermamed, a one millilitre Filorga filler injections, such as those for the lips, nasolabial folds or mouth corner costs €270.
What happens after summer?
After summer, tanned skin needs a lot of moisture. Start with the Glykopeel peeling and moisturising mesotherapy. After that, continue with tightening of the skin, remove pigmentations and brighten the skin with Cellec IPL Cell Toning or Photoshower treatments. It is good to know that these treatments are also excellent for a quick skin refreshment a few days before important events.
Even more effective are the firming procedures Elos and Intracel Combi, which are performed in 2-3 visits about a month apart, so your skin will be at its best just in time for Christmas! What is great about advanced skin treatments is that despite of their effectiveness, you don’t need to take a long sick leave to recover from them. Improving the appearance and quality of your skin with the methods of Aesthetic Dermatology as a part of a revitalising regular skincare, is now affordable to all of us.
